Project 41 · Water

Land Capability Assessment in Spring Gully, Injune

We were engaged by Hewitt Cattle Company to conduct a feasibility assessment to investigate the beneficial use of coal seam gas (CSG) waste water for irrigation.

The purpose was to identify the suitability and availability of water for irrigation with respect to crop type and required infrastructure costs.

At the completion of the project, a final report provided recommendations on the economic and environmental viability of the proposed irrigation scheme. Stage 2 of the project, which involves further detailed analysis of soils using electromagnetic surveying techniques, as well as detailed assessment of centre pivot infrastructure design and dam storage capacity and location, is currently underway.
