Contaminated Agricultural Runoff (CAR) Dam

We were engaged by Koala Farms to design a Contaminated Agricultural Runoff (CAR) dam.

The dam was designed to only capture the ‘first flush’ (25mm) of runoff, which may be nutrient enriched from farming activities.

In accordance with regulatory requirements, additional runoff exceeding 25mm must not be captured. The CAR dam was designed with a maximum volume of 35.9 ML, and contaminated (nutrient enriched) runoff water may be used for irrigation purposes.

Our team prepared a detailed certification application report that was signed off by an active Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). This was successfully submitted to the Department of Natural Resources and Mines (DNRM) for approval.
