Flood Impact Assessment for Townsville Airport extension

We were commissioned to undertake a Flood Impact Assessment for the proposed Townsville airport extension.

This involved an appraisal of Townsville City Council’s current Captains Creek flood model.

The model was updated for the assessment of fill options for the airport extension. This update required analysis of flood plain storage and behaviour of existing hydraulic infrastructure. Additional conveyance channels and culverts were also implemented to maximise land-use whilst maintaining flood immunity and minimising impact.
