Senior Town Planner
This is a key senior role, combining technical planning expertise, project management, mentoring, and business development, with opportunities to work on diverse and complex projects, particularly within the renewable energy space.
Key ResponsibilityAs a Senior Town Planner, you’ll play a pivotal part in delivering dependable planning services while supporting team development and contributing to business growth.
Key responsibilities include: Leading and delivering statutory and strategic planning projects;
Preparing dependable planning reports, studies, and advice;
Managing projects end‑to‑end, including budgets, timelines, client liaison, and resourcing;
Providing technical guidance and mentoring to developing planners;
Reviewing work to ensure technical accuracy and professional standards;
Building and maintaining strong client relationships;
Supporting business development, proposals, and fee estimates;
Contributing to renewable energy projects including solar and BESS.
Required ExperienceWe’re looking for a well-rounded senior planner who brings both technical depth and a commercial mindset.
You’ll ideally have: A tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related discipline;
Minimum 8 years’ post‑graduate experience in town planning and project delivery including 5+ years within the NSW or QLD Planning system;
Strong working knowledge of statutory and strategic planning legislation;
Experience managing projects within a professional services environment;
Well-developed communication skills and confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders;
A collaborative leadership style, with a passion for mentoring and knowledge sharing;
Experience in renewable energy projects and EIS’s;
Willingness to work towards REAP accreditation (support provided);
Relevant professional memberships (or eligibility).
